The Public Information Director develops comprehensive Department communication and public relations programs that proactively provides information on Corrections policies, initiatives, goals and objectives to a widespread audience including the public, the executive and legislative branches of state government, key media resources, local governmental bodies and public information organizations; directs the Department's major communication efforts that disseminate information on complex programs, policies and initiatives; identifies, analyzes and evaluates issues, events or trends that have an impact or potential impact on departmental programs or initiatives and formulates a program designed to apprise the Secretary of strategies to employ in response to these occurrences; and directs internal communication mechanisms.
